ROCHESTER HILLS, Mich. (AP) — A Rochester Hills doctor has been arraigned on multiple felony charges after authorities discovered he had been secretly recording nude images and videos of unsuspecting adults and children, including minors at a local swim school.
Dr. Oumair Aejaz, who has been practicing internal medicine in Oakland County since 2018, was arraigned on August 13 in 52-3 District Court on 10 felony charges. The charges include child sexually abusive activity, using a computer to create or reproduce child sexually abusive material, and multiple counts of capturing nude images of children and adults without their consent.

The investigation began on August 7 when Oakland County Sheriff’s detectives received a tip about Aejaz’s activities. A search of his home the following day led to the seizure of six computers, four cell phones, and 15 external storage devices. One of the devices contained more than 13,000 videos recorded over the past six years.
Sheriff Michael Bouchard said the geographic scope of the investigation is expected to expand beyond Genesee and Macomb counties, where Aejaz practiced, and may include other states or countries depending on where he worked. Bouchard described the impact of the alleged crimes, stating, “It’s more than an invasion of privacy. It robs these moms and kids, and all of us, of a sense of safety we should have when we’re with our kids at a place like that.”
Victims of the recordings include children and their parents who were attending a swim school. “They’re there to teach their kids to swim,” said McDonald, one of the investigators. “They were victimized by a person of trust in the community – a medical doctor.”
Authorities believe the examination of the confiscated materials will take up to six months to complete. The sheriff’s office is encouraging anyone who believes they may have been a victim of Aejaz to contact detectives.
Aejaz, a citizen of India, has been living in the United States on a visa. He completed his residency at Detroit Sinai Grace Hospital in 2011 before moving to Alabama, and later returning to Michigan to continue his medical practice.
