Florida – A new law went into effect in Florida regarding child rapists. They will start facing the death penalty. The new law began on Sunday, and some say it is controversial. “The law specifically pertains to child victims under 12“.
Florida Governor Ron DeSantis said: “These are really the worst of the worst. The perpetrators of these crimes are often serial offenders.”
Mario DeLiberato, Executive Director, Floridians for Alternatives to the Death Penalty, said that “The legislature, to their credit, acknowledged that when they passed it right, they said, “we know this isn’t the law, we just hope the law will get change.”
According to statistics, about 90 percent of victims know their abusers and of those, are abused by family members.
