“I am at a loss for words,” expressed PGA Tour Commissioner Jay Monahan in a heartfelt statement. “The PGA Tour is a family, and when you lose a member of your family, you are never the same. We mourn Grayson and pray for comfort for his loved ones.”

Murray’s management company, GSE Worldwide, confirmed his passing and shared their condolences. “We will hold off on commenting until we learn further details, but our heart aches for his family, his friends, and all who loved him during this very difficult time,” GSE stated.

Commissioner Monahan also reached out to Murray’s parents to offer his condolences. At their request, the tournament in Fort Worth, Texas, will continue as scheduled. The tour initially cited illness as the reason for Murray’s withdrawal from Friday’s second round.

To support those affected by this tragic news, grief counselors will be available at the PGA Tour and Korn Ferry Tour events. Monahan himself is heading to Texas to offer his support.

Murray had recently made headlines for his remarkable comeback this year, winning the Sony Open with a stunning 40-foot putt in a playoff. His previous victory was at the Barbasol Championship in 2017.

Ranked No. 58 in the world, Murray had just tied for 43rd in the PGA Championship last week at Valhalla. He also made the cut in his Masters debut, finishing 51st, and was slated to compete in the U.S. Open next month at Pinehurst No. 2.

The golf world mourns the loss of Grayson Murray, a talented player whose career was on the rise, leaving behind a legacy of resilience and determination.
