WASHINGTON D. C. — While attempting to make an arrest on an animal cruelty warrant, three officers were shot and a fourth was injured. The person they were trying to arrest barricaded themselves in a house hours after opening fire on police, a police spokeswoman said. Metropolitan Police Department Chief Pamela Smith said, “This remains an active situation and the individual has continued to fire from that location.”
All officers involved in the shooting are expected to recover. Crisis negotiators were on scene and roads and schools were on lockdown.
This is a fluid situation and will be updated.
