TAMPA, FLA – Spirit Airlines has implemented a stricter dress code for passengers, citing repeated violations that have caused disruptions on flights. The updated policy, which went into effect Wednesday, outlines several restrictions on attire and personal presentation.
Under the new guidelines, passengers are prohibited from wearing see-through clothing that exposes private areas, including breasts and buttocks, FOX Business reported. Offensive tattoos must also be covered, and bare feet are no longer allowed on flights. Those who fail to comply may be denied boarding or removed from the plane.

In a statement, Spirit Airlines said the changes were prompted by ongoing issues with passengers violating the previous dress code, leading to complaints from other travelers.
The policy change follows a series of incidents, including the removal of two women from a Spirit flight in October 2024 for wearing crop tops. More recently, a Texas man was taken off a flight after his hoodie was deemed offensive, even after he agreed to remove it.
Spirit Airlines has not yet responded to requests for comment on the updated guidelines.
