(NewsNation) — Lurie Children’s Hospital still offline a week after cyber attack.  Hospital officials are working with law enforcement and internal and external experts to fix critical hospital functions.  Procedures, appointments, and checking test results can not be done at this time.  It is frustrating to the hospital staff, patients, and their families.

“The hackers have effectively taken the entire hospital offline. Who is behind the attack remains a mystery. Cybersecurity experts say it bears all the hallmarks of a “ransomware” attack, where hackers freeze systems and refuse to release them without payment.”

Cyber attacks have also happened at hospitals in four other states.  Last November, ransomware attacks happened in New Mexico, Texas, New Jersey,Lurie Children’s Hospital cyber attack removed and Oklahoma.  These attacks effectively shut down operations at these hospitals.
