Expressing dismay over the situation, the District voiced concerns about the impact this closure will have on families. While recognizing that the scholars will bear the brunt of the disruption, the District hopes for a swift return of the UTF employees to ensure educational continuity.

The union posted the following statement on its Facebook page, “Actions, or the lack of action, has consequences. Statements don’t create change or resolve problems. Both sides sitting down to resolve them does. When will the district and the board stop talking AT the UTF, and start talking WITH them?

Assurances were given that once the teachers resume their duties, the District will resume its commitment to providing a high-quality education to its scholars. Officials are optimistic about concluding the 2023-24 school year on a positive note, pending the resolution of the current situation.

For any inquiries regarding this development, the District has encouraged contacting them at 810-760-1000.

Meanwhile, principals, secretaries, and all Central Office staff are requested to report as usual despite the closure.

The District also issued an apology for the inconvenience caused to scholars and families due to this unexpected turn of events.
