Colony Ridge just northeast of Houston, Texas has become as large as Washington, DC. And growing more everyday. Most of the land plots are sold to undocumented immigrants coming across the border illegally. No social security numbers are necessary to purchase property. Making these land purchases very attractive to illegals since no ID or credit verification is needed or required.
Liberty county says that there are no building codes being enforced. Liberty county sheriffs department also says that they are having a hard time checking all individuals that they come into contact with. This is due to the time it takes to verify the identities of these individuals.
Families and individuals can purchase a land plot in Colony Ridge, owner financed, and no identity verification needed. The land that is being sold to these immigrants is often dry dirt lots. Forcing the people that agree to buy these tracts of land to “build their own” ram-shackled homes. Most of these homes are covered with bits and pieces of wood and roofed with tarps.
The interest rates on these property loans are upwards of 19% making the payments hard to afford. Colony Ridge has one of the highest foreclosure rates in the country.
Colony Ridge has also become a “no go” area for local law enforcement due to the area being run by gangs and cartels from other countries. Liberty County officials will not allow their sheriff deputies to patrol this area due to the danger of law enforcement being targeted.
Colony Ridge has been touted as the largest “no-go” sanctuary city in America. William ‘Trey’ Harris, the owner and seller of these plots of land, does not require any documentation in order to buy land there. While conventional loans require many documents to show income, ID, credit worthiness, etc.
Mr. Harris’s scheme has not only drawn many illegal immigrants but has also drawn in gangs and cartels that “run” things in the area.
