FLINT, Mich — A Winter Weather Advisory has been issued for parts of southeast Michigan from 4 a.m. to 7 p.m. Saturday, followed by a Winter Storm Watch extending from Saturday evening through Sunday evening, according to the National Weather Service.
Forecasters predict snow accumulations of 3 to 5 inches during the advisory period Saturday, accompanied by a mix of sleet and freezing drizzle, which could create slick road conditions. By Saturday night, heavier snowfall is expected, with total accumulations reaching up to 8 inches in some areas, particularly near Lake Huron. Wind gusts could also reach 40 mph, reducing visibility and making travel hazardous.

The affected region includes areas along and north of the I-69 corridor, including Flint, Port Huron, the Tri-Cities, and the Thumb.

Travel conditions may become dangerous, especially Saturday night into Sunday, as a strengthening low-pressure system moves through the region. The storm is expected to bring a new round of heavy snow, increasing the risk of difficult road conditions and possible power outages.
Motorists are advised to plan for longer travel times Saturday and stay updated on changing weather conditions. The Michigan Department of Transportation recommends checking the Michigan Drive Map for the latest road conditions.
Precautionary Measures:
- Allow for extra travel time and use caution while driving.
- Monitor forecasts for possible updates on storm severity.
- Be prepared for reduced visibility and deteriorating road conditions.
- Avoid unnecessary travel if conditions worsen Saturday night into Sunday.
