CLEVELAND, OH – In a celestial spectacle bound to captivate sky-watchers, a total solar eclipse is set to sweep across North America on Monday, April 8, 2024. The astronomical event will cast its shadow starting from Mexico’s Pacific coast and journey through the United States and Canada, offering a breathtaking view to millions.

Kicking off over the vast expanse of the South Pacific Ocean, the eclipse’s path of totality will first grace continental North America along Mexico’s picturesque Pacific coastline at approximately 11:07 a.m. PDT. From there, it will embark on a grand tour across the continent.

In the United States, the eclipse’s shadow will make its entrance in Texas, carving its way through a succession of states including Oklahoma, Arkansas, Missouri, Illinois, Kentucky, Indiana, Ohio, Pennsylvania, New York, Vermont, New Hampshire, and Maine. Not to be left out, select regions of Tennessee and Michigan will also find themselves enveloped in the midday twilight brought about by the total solar eclipse.

Continuing its path, the celestial phenomenon will cross into Canada, first touching down in Southern Ontario. It will then proceed to cast its shadow over Quebec, New Brunswick, Prince Edward Island, and Cape Breton, offering a stunning spectacle to residents and visitors alike. The eclipse’s journey across the North American continent will conclude on the Atlantic shores of Newfoundland, Canada, at 5:16 p.m. NDT.

Observers along the eclipse’s path are advised to hope for clear skies to fully experience the awe-inspiring moment of totality. This event presents a unique opportunity for communities across North America to come together and witness one of nature’s most remarkable displays.
