GENESEE COUNTY, Mich. — A two-day operation targeting child predators in Genesee County resulted in the arrest of four men, including two illegal immigrants from Honduras. The men, who traveled from outside the county, were apprehended by the proactive “Ghost” team led by Sheriff Chris Swanson.
Swanson revealed that the operation highlights the ongoing threat posed by predators, even in areas with visible warnings about law enforcement vigilance. Despite billboards and other preventative measures in the county, the suspects still attempted to exploit children.

The illegal immigrants, along with suspects from Utica and Genesee County, coordinated meetings with decoys posing as minors. One suspect, who spent five hours chatting with the decoy, conducted extensive surveillance of the location before his arrest. Another, a 25-year-old, displayed explicit and disturbing behavior in his communication with the decoy.
“This isn’t just about Genesee County; it’s about protecting the vulnerable everywhere,” said Swanson. He emphasized the importance of parents maintaining open communication with their children and reporting suspicious activities to law enforcement.
Swanson urged anyone with concerns to contact their local authorities, noting, “We want to give you your voice and freedom back.” For assistance, individuals can reach out to the Genesee County Sheriff’s Office or call 911.
This operation demonstrates the ongoing need for vigilance against those who seek to harm children, regardless of their origin.
