TUSCOLA COUNTY, Mich. — A Tuscola County Sheriff’s Deputy, Thomas Peterson, was injured in an incident on the evening of February 16 when he was struck by a vehicle while assisting with a disabled car along M-24/Blackmore.
Deputy Peterson was promptly flown to a nearby hospital for treatment following the 7:43 PM accident. Officials say he is expected to make a full recovery from his numerous injuries, highlighting the perils faced by law enforcement officers daily

The driver, identified as a 54-year-old man from Caro, has been taken into custody and charged with his third offense of operating while intoxicated (OWI).
In the wake of the accident, the Tuscola County Sheriff’s Office expressed gratitude for the overwhelming support Peterson and his family have received, underscoring the community’s role in aiding the recovery process.
The sheriff’s office has issued a reminder to the public about the importance of road safety, especially in the vicinity of emergency personnel working on the roadways.
