MOSCOW, Russia – Russian leader Vladimir Putin has accused Wagner mercenary boss Yevgeny Prigozhin of treason, embarking on an armed rebellion and “a stab in the back of our country”. According to the BBC
One of Russia’s most important figures, Prigozhin says his aim is “not a military coup but a march for justice”.
Prigozhin, head of the Wagner Group and a confidant of the Russian leader, claimed that he and his fighters had taken Rostov-on-Don, where the Russian military headquarters overseeing the war in Ukraine is based.

Kira Rudik, a member of Ukraine’s parliament, said Saturday that Russia can end this situation quickly so “we should not expect” that the Wagner Group would achieve its goals.
“Even if that happens, the consequences for Ukraine are difficult to predict,” Rudik told NBC News. “Let’s make it clear: there’s no good guys there. It is a group of Russians who did not agree with another group of Russians on the best way to kill us, Ukrainians. So, we are watching and cheering for both sides.”
