GENESEE COUNTY, Mich. — A car collided with a tree and caught fire Monday afternoon on Field Road, according to Genesee County 911 reports.
Emergency responders from the Clio Police Department, Genesee County Sheriff’s Office, and Clio Area Fire Department arrived at the 300 block of Field Road at approximately 2:34 p.m., just minutes after the call came in at 2:32 p.m.
Upon arrival, emergency personnel found the vehicle in flames. However, neighbors and passersby had already extricated the occupants before the fire fully engulfed the car.

The vehicle’s occupants, two 16-year-old males from the Clio area, were treated at the scene and then transported to a local hospital. According to the investigation, the vehicle was traveling east on Field Road when it lost control while crossing the railroad tracks east of Railroad Street. The driver attempted to regain control, but the vehicle veered southward and struck a large tree.
Despite rescue efforts, the passenger later succumbed to his injuries. No updates on the driver’s condition were available at the time of this report.
The cause of the accident is still under investigation by the Clio Police Department and the Genesee County Sheriff’s Office.
