The judge overseeing former President Trump’s New York fraud trial issued a limited gag order after a post on Trump’s Truth Social account targeted the judge’s principal clerk.

The post, made while Trump was in the courtroom, contained personally-identifying information about the clerk. The judge warned against personal attacks on court staff and issued the gag order, prohibiting Trump and others involved in the case from publicly speaking about members of the judge’s staff.
The order followed Trump’s comments about the clerk and a subsequent email criticizing the judge. This incident occurred on the second day of the fraud trial, where prosecutors accuse Trump and his company of years of fraudulently inflating the value of real estate properties.
This is not the first time Trump has faced a gag order for targeting individuals involved in a legal case.
Last month, special counsel Jack Smith requested the judge overseeing Trump’s federal Jan. 6 case impose similar restrictions limiting what Trump can say publicly, citing recent posts threatening witnesses in the case.
