CENTERLINE, Mich -The Centerline School District in Michigan emailed parents to inform them that it has been victim to a ransomware attack.
Ransomware is malware that locks and encrypts data, files, devices, or systems, making them inaccessible until a ransom is paid. Initially, ransomware relied solely on encryption to block access to victims’ files and systems.

Superintendent Joseph Haynes stated, “Our IT team, with the assistance of outside experts, is working diligently to address the situation. All systems have been taken offline as a precaution. Technology specialists have been engaged to investigate and assist with restoring systems safely and securely.”
