Measles outbreak declared in UK; uptick in cases here in the U.S.

Fox News – In an article on Foxnews.com, the United Kingdom has declared a “national health incident”.  According to U.K. Health Security Agency (UKHSA) chief executive Jenny Harries, there has been a surge in cases of the disease.  Officials say there is only an 85% rate of children being fully innoculated against measles, mumps and rubella.  Parents are being urged to make sure their children are fully vaccinated.

Measles is highly contagious and according to the CDC (Centers for Disease Control), the best way to keep from getting the disease is to make sure your children are fully vaccinated.

In 2000, the World Health Organization stated that measles had been eliminated in the U.S. but if cases continue to rise, the WHO could be forced to rescind that designation.
