(CNN)- A 38 year old man has been charged with stealing tax returns of a government official. Charles Edward Littlejohn, a contractor with the IRS, faces charges of stealing the tax returns of Donald Trump and other high profile persons. “Littlejohn is charged with one count of unauthorized disclosure of tax returns and return information and faces up to five years in prison if convicted.”
The tax returns and other related documents were leaked to The New York Times and ProPublica. Both of whom published articles about the individuals from 2020 and 2021. Both news organizations have not been named in any court documents as they have not been accused of any wrongdoing.
