HILLSDALE COUNTY, MI – A Hillsdale County Sheriff’s Deputy was tragically shot and killed on Thursday, as confirmed by Michigan State Police during a press conference.
The suspect, identified as Eric Michael Fiddler, evaded authorities for several hours before being located by Michigan State Police shortly after 6:15 p.m. Officers later confirmed that Fiddler was shot and killed.

The incident took place at the intersection of Beecher Road and Lamb Road.
This marks the first time in nearly 100 years that Hillsdale County has lost an officer in the line of duty.
