REESE, Michigan – UPDATE— The National Weather Service says the funnel cloud spotted in Reese was a cold air funnel.
The National Weather Service says cold air funnels are usually harmless, but on rare occasions, they can touch down and cause EF-0 level (winds up to 85 mph) tornado damage.
Saginaw County 911 sent an alert out at 2:19 p.m. on Thursday saying that police had spotted a funnel cloud near the intersection of M46 and GEra Road traveling east.
Numerous people have posted pictures and videos of what they say is that funnel cloud.
There are no reports the funnel cloud touched down.
Tornado sirens in Frankenmuth and several nearby communities did sound.
