As Deputy Bischer diligently worked on the scene from the safety of his patrol car, a westbound vehicle, identified as a 2006 Pontiac Grand Prix, lost control on the slippery roadway. Negotiating a patch of slush, the driver struggled to maintain control, ultimately crossing the centerline and colliding with the patrol unit on its left side (driver side).
Deputy Bischer, though subjected to the impact, sustained minor injuries and was promptly treated at a nearby hospital. The Michigan State Police took charge of the accident investigation, swiftly identifying the 18-year-old Reese driver as the primary party involved in the collision.
Following their inquiry, the Michigan State Police arrested the young driver. Formal charges are anticipated, with the arraignment expected later today. The incident underscores the challenges posed by adverse weather conditions and the importance of caution on snowy roadways.
