FLINT, Mich. – Flint Major Case Unit detectives responded to a shooting in the 700 block of E. Philadelphia Ave. at about 2:45 a.m. on May 15, 2024. Preliminary investigation indicates a child sustained a fatal gunshot wound inside a home. The incident is still under investigation, and updates will be provided as they become available.

Authorities remind residents that Michigan’s secure storage law requires individuals to keep unattended weapons unloaded and locked with a locking device or stored in a locked box or container if it is reasonably known that a minor is likely to be present on the premises. Free gun locks are available at any Michigan State Police post.
