WASHINGTON D.C. – The Pentagon has announced that the accounting error related to aid provided to Ukraine was more significant than previously reported.
The error was initially stated as $3 billion but has now been revealed to be $6.2 billion. The mistake occurred because the value of replacing weapons was counted instead of the value of the actual weapons during transfers.
While many people are happy with the news, others on social media are not happy and say America needs to stop funding Ukraine.
This led to an overestimation of the equipment’s value and resulted in a higher cost for each aid package. However, the Pentagon assures that this accounting error did not limit the size of the aid provided to Ukraine or impact its support.
The increased miscalculation of $6.2 billion is expected to reduce the need for an additional assistance package from Congress before the fiscal year ends in September.
The revelation of the initial $3 billion accounting error had caused concern among some lawmakers, who believed it reduced US support to Ukraine during a critical period.
