The inquiry, led by Senator Ron Wyden and Representatives Pramila Jayapal and Sara Jacobs, revealed that while some chains mandate legal review of law enforcement requests, the three mentioned above permit pharmacy staff members to hand over customers’ medical records directly in the store.
This revelation has sparked concerns about potential threats to medical privacy, prompting the lawmakers to address the issue in a letter to Xavier Becerra, the Secretary of the Department of Health and Human Services.
